Photo of the Year

The monthly theme in April for City Daily Photo bloggers was "pedestrians crossing."  I went to a shopping center, found a bench near a busy crosswalk, and waited as inconspicuously as I could.

One hour and fifty lousy shots later, I was about to give up.  Then, I saw these two young girls walking in my direction.   I had forgotten how conformist teenagers are, dressing alike, buying the same stuff, striding in perfect rhythm with each other.  I waited until I had them positioned in the crosswalk, took a couple of discreet shots, checked that the photos were OK, then got up and left.  Mission accomplished.

Happy New Year!

That's brilliant Jack! They could be twins, they are dressed so strikingly similar

I remember this one. Such a fun shot. I hadn't thought about the conformist angle but you are so right. You made me think of a time when I was in high school that I went shopping with a girl friend and we bought exactly the same outfit.

Happy New Year, Jack. Having seen all your photos this year on this blog, I'd find it hard to pick just one as "photo of the year". Have a great 2014.

not related to this photo but i was just working on some genealogy when i came across my husband's 10th great grandfather, thomas lord, one of the first settlers of hartford. i right away thought of you! if you come across anything about him, maybe you could take a photo for me! it's such a small world really, we are all connected somehow!

A great choice for the theme day. I was never a conformist myself but it is funny how much alike these two young girls must be. Do you think they are sisters?

Good choice, Jack. I'd get in trouble too if I said too much!

I would have had problems, I think, with that particular theme day!
