I Missed the Tulip Season

This year I missed out on tulips.  When I was in the Netherlands and Belgium early in April, it was so cold that the tulips were hiding under the soil.  Now that I am back in Connecticut, the tulips in Elizabeth Park are pretty much done.  Sure, they look OK from a distance.  You just don't want to look too closely.

The bulbs will probably be lifted this week or next, and the beds will be replanted with annuals.

Even though you ar are bit late it's still a good shot of a very colourful park.

It's tulip season in Haninge this week. At least in the roundabouts, always a spectacular thing to see after a loon winter and spring.

This photo is quite beautiful! I love all the colors represented. Don't you think the growing seasons are shifting a little? Our weather has been so unpredictable lately.

I'm glad you got to get a peek at the tulips before they're replaced with the annuals! I was fortunate to be able to visit the tulips in the Netherlands when I lived in Europe and they were gorgeous!! Hope your week is off to a great start, Jack!!

You're maybe a little late, but this pic still gives us a beautiful idea of colors and of spring mind!

I noticed this am that the crabapple trees are past their prime now too. The heat we had last week sped everything up.

They look gorgeous. A favorite flower of mine. Ours didn't last long this year and they were really late showing too.

We've just gone from winter to summer, and the tulips are just up.

I went there in May and they were all gone...

Mother Nature doesn't seem to follow the calendar. But look at it this way: how many snowy, cold, miserable winter days did you skip by being in Florida?

You shouldn't have said that they looked okay from a distance because now I had to look closer...

The ones at the front look OK! It seems that now spring is finally here it is all speeded up. Tulips over, cherry blossom burst out a week or so ago and is already going (not helped by strong winds).

You were basking under a palm tree drinking concoctions with little umbrellas when these guys were in full bloom.

We have our tulip festival underway here in Ottawa, Jack. The spring was cold enough that some of the bulbs are yet to spring, so the third weekend, which is often less of a show, will be a good one.

I do like your photo, Jack. And I enjoy how well-tended Elizabeth Park is.

Tulips make so beautiful photos, with their wonderful colors...
Great composition, Jack!

Warm temperatures here in central Ontario shortened our tulip season, the early tulips anyway. We'll see what happens to the mid and late season varieties.
