There is something similar that I posted on my blog (http://haitidreams.wordpress.com/2013/02/22/vision-for-a-new-haiti-cathedral-winning-competition-designs-exhibition-22313/) which is about a competition for rebuilding Haiti's cathedral in Port-au-Prince.
Great capture! I love the old building -- lot more character than the dull, modern buildings, but maybe that's just because the old love the old???? Hope you've had a great weekend, Jack!
Fabulous contrast- they both look grand (I used to see myself as a bit of a wordsmith in my youth Jack but nit much of a musician, sadly despite working at a music college now!)

LOL! I expected to open up the full frame and see a bride with something old, new, borrowed, blue!!!
Love seeing the old architecture.

Good job here. The new is sympathetic with the old.
The juxtaposition of the old and new is always interesting, sometimes surprising, and often has a tale to tell.
It must feel old! I like to see old and new combined.
Looks rather weird but I guess one could get used to it. The old certainly has a lot more character than the new!
Re your comment: 200 Baptist churches is just the tip of the iceberg...there are hundreds of others also!
Looks funky... but a least they didn't knock her down.
I kind of like it. It looks like they put some thought into blending the two styles at least with the color.

Great idea to keep it! it adds a special touch !
Side by side they seems to speak volumes about the cultural mindset that built them

Glad they retained this beautiful facade!
Old and new is always fascinating, beautiful buildings!
And it looks as if they did a good job integrating the two. Such wonderful craftsmanship on the old!
Looks like they did an imaginative job integrating this lovely old frontage. Good to see.
Quite well done, I like them both!
Works fine.
If only cities would retain more of the old and build less of the new... but I quite like your blend of the two very different eras.
I'll take the something old.
So a new building was constructed around and behind the old facade? The design works.
Fine contrast between old and new. Good light in this shot.
Beautiful building and I like both facades!
Great angle in this image!

At first glance, the combination of old and new is rather odd looking. Love the facade of the older structure.
I breath a huge sigh of relief whenever I see something left behind Jack.. Just a little reminder of more elegant times oui! This works very well..
