Four Ibis

Or Ibises.  Or Ibices.  Or Ibi.

These guys were scooting into the water looking for small fish, then retreating when the waves came in, then scooting out again, then retreating . . .

They are spectacular birds, I confess I didn't know the name, thanks!
Your picture is wonderful, I like the two beautiful moments in this peaceful beach!

We call this family of birds Vadare, which translates to walks in water.

That's neat how you captured the reflection on the wet sand.

I like the color coordination between their beaks and legs

Wonderful! I always love to watch the Ibises -- uh, whichever, when I'm at the coast. Great captures and terrific reflections for the day, Jack! Enjoy your weekend!

they really don't like to get their legs wet. These are nice shots.

I just love this kind of birds behaviour on the beach... Here in Brittanny, every end of spring we see bands of lots of little birdies following the waves all together like that, and it is so cute ! I couldn't resist filming them : http://lunedemaledaumon.blogspot.fr/2010/01/21-secondes-de-bebes-mouettes-jouant-au.html

I'd like to know what they are saying to each other as they potter along.

I'll bet you scooted just like the Ibis did. Nice reflections, though. '

You don't appreciate the seasons in the far southern reaches of Florida 'cause there are no seasons. There is only one season: the hot and humid season.

So, play lots of golf and take lots of showers.

Hah, I don't know the plural either. I don't actually think I've ever seen more than one at once.

I haven't seen these birds on the Alabama coast. Gosh, it looks warm there! Makes me want to fly south for the winter.

Great photos! I'm glad we aren't getting much snow from the latest storm.

Ah...the ibis. Always the first bird to return after a storm (or so the saying goes.) Love those long, orange hooked beaks.

Love these birds, although I think I've never seen them completely white in person. Guyana has the most amazing: the Scarlet Ibis (which I haven't seen either... LOL!)
