Four Ibis



Or Ibises.  Or Ibices.  Or Ibi.

These guys were scooting into the water looking for small fish, then retreating when the waves came in, then scooting out again, then retreating . . .

    We call this family of birds Vadare, which translates to walks in water.

    I just love this kind of birds behaviour on the beach... Here in Brittanny, every end of spring we see bands of lots of little birdies following the waves all together like that, and it is so cute !     You don't appreciate the seasons in the far southern reaches of Florida 'cause there are no seasons. There is only one season: the hot and humid season.

    So, play lots of golf and take lots of showers.

    I haven't seen these birds on the Alabama coast. Gosh, it looks warm there! Makes me want to fly south for the winter.

    Ah...the ibis. Always the first bird to return after a storm (or so the saying goes.) Love those long, orange hooked beaks.

    Love these birds, although I think I've never seen them completely white in person. Guyana has the most amazing: the Scarlet Ibis (which I haven't seen either... LOL!)
