Andy Warhol's 1964 image of Jackie Kennedy is very popular. The blue version is an original signed Warhol silkscreen in the modern art galleries of the Wadsworth Atheneum. The red one is probably a reproduction. It decorates the walls of the Pond House restaurant in Elizabeth Park.The label at the Atheneum says that Warhol's choice of the famously stylish and infamously tragic former First Lady combines two of the artist's enduring themes -- fame and tragedy.

Love them both but, I think I like the red better. That said, you two photos are both gorgeous. I love the way you framed both of them.
She was certainly a style icon for her time. The theme of fame and tragedy would suit so many these days, Princess Di, Amy Winehouse,Heath Ledger to name but a few. Warhol had such a distinctive style, I like it a lot.
I love the series of Warhol's famous people paintings, but have only seen one original in person: Judy Garland.
Over the years I've learned to appreciate Warhol's work. Haven't seen this one often. He had a knack of using images that preserve our quintessential memories of the person portrayed. I like your juxtaposition of the portrait with the void of the open doorway.

Warhol knew how to capture the essence of whatever he painted.

Both Warhol and Jackie were icons of the 1960s. The portrait is excellent, and the original and reproduction are both fun and easy to look at.
Regardless of what you think of Warhol, there is such beautiful balance, composition and warm color in photo. Like it a lot.

I have always enjoyed Warhol's images. Fame and tragedy seem to have followed Jackie around during her entire life. Despite all the privilege and glamour, I think that I prefer my life to hers.
