The New Britain Museum of American Art offers lectures on Wednesdays. The plein air water color painter Bob Noreika was a recent guest. He picked a location on the museum's front porch to demonstrate how he paints. I learned that a roll of paper towels is an essential tool for a water color painter.

He certainly has an attentive audience!
He sure looks like a painter. Pretty fun to see an artist at work.
You've captured intensity here: both artist and onlookers.
Watercolor is less forgiving than acrylic painting, as it is harder to cover up mistakes.
Birdman said it best...these people are completely absorbed in what they are doing and watching.
I love watching plein air artists.
I wonder what he is painting. Your commentaries are always funny, Jack! Of course I'm referring to the roll of paper towels. :-)
I second JM's comment! He does have an attentive audience! Wonder what he's painting??? I love your photos and your sense of humor, Jack! You always start my day with a giggle and a snort!
He has certainly got all attention Jack, he would have had mine too if I was there, I'm fascinated by how easy artists make creating look.
What a wonderful shot. It must have been extremely interesting. And yes, the toilet paper is useful for clouds, isn't it?
I wonder if plein air requires an attentive audience, too. I rarely see an artist like this without people gathered around. Paper towels, people, and not too much wind.
I'm always impressed by watercolourists!
He certainly has an enthralled audience. What does he need paper towels for? Looks like a lovely day in Hartford.
What a fantastic idea Jack ... I only wish we had something similar here.
The paper towls really got my eye. I'm sure they are useful but they look all wrong for the subject. Reminds me of Doughas Adams' advice in the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series to always carry a towel.
A very interesting initiative, I'll keep present the roll of paper towels...
I like the way you caught the look of concentration on his face. This would be so interesting to watch!
