Jerry's Artarama

This mural is on the side wall of an artist's supply store on New Britain Avenue in West Hartford.  I don't show many "street art" murals because I don't see many murals in Central Connecticut that are "art," painted with some skill and permission, rather than just graffiti.  This one was commissioned and fits the idea of an art supply store very well.

This post has been linked to Monday Mural, a meme established by Oakland Daily Photo.

A great idea for an art store. I love the bright colors and how they've used the art store theme. Very nice find. :)

The colors and symbols are certainly indicative of an art supply store.

I feel the same way you do regarding "street art", but this is terrific and perfect for the art supply store! Wonderful capture as always, Jack! Hope your week is off to a great, fun start! Enjoy!

I love the bright colors. This mural fits the place perfectly.

It suits the store and at the same time the artists were able to get their stylized tags thrown up there too. Good one.

Very cool! My city is starting to open up to the expansion of graffiti art in town and i think it is such a great way to add interesting colour and dimension to the downtown core.

Art supply stores are fun to explore and the colors in this mural would pull me right in to browse.

That's pretty cool. I think the handicapped symbol in the pavement, placed just that way. may have been planned as an extension. Oh, and also the way you framed it so that just the letters K I N G are visible from the word walking.

Perfect mural for an art supply store. Those messy color paint tubes look like they spell something out. Of course, I can't read it. I get the same impression from what has been painted on the canvas above the tubes. Perfectly fitting for the new generation of artists affected by hip hop culture. Do you think the melting watch is a nod to Dali? There's a lot going on here that merits a long look. Thanks for participating this week, Jack, in Monday Mural.
