Volunteers are invaluable. The annuals garden is planted in the beds where you saw tulips earlier. One volunteer does most of the planting, but he has help from other volunteers.
Alecia is a student from Jamaica who wants to become a doctor. On a hot day, she watered for hours to keep the thirsty plants alive until the beds could be mulched. As gardeners know, mulch is magic, suppressing weeds, supplying nutrients and reducing the amount of watering that is needed.

Enjoy the heat! Get under that hose.
Sounds like you're a gardener yourself, Jack. Alecia is a wonderful foreign student, giving the main gardener a hand with the important job of watering.
Alecia is doing a wonderful work there, the garden looks great!
Good luck for her with the classes.

I wish I had a volunteer to water my garden! :)
Lovely image!
Looks like there are dedicated volunteers here.
Although gardening is not for me, these are very good volunteer initiatives.
It is not easy to find the right mix of these...
It's the kind of work that would be a pleasure to volunteer for Jack, I agree totally about the mulch, in a hot climate (like OZ)a garden wouldn't have a chance of surviving without it.
How wonderful to have Alecia help with the gardens! And wonderful for her as well to be able to not only enjoy the beauty but helping make a difference! Beautiful capture as always, Jack! Enjoy your day and have a lovely evening!

Those beds will need mulch today!
A little more volunteerism instead of "me-ism" and we'd all be a little better off.
I'm not sure anyone here would volunteer...
Volunteers have become such a vital part of any city!
I now have a teensy balcony and can't keep mine watered. I'd love this beautiful intern to help me!

I grew up amidst concrete and asphalt and don't know a thing about gardening. Still, I'm glad that people like her put forth the effort to share the beauty.
That's a HOT job in the sun. Alecia deserves a medal for volunteering.
Watering in the middle of the day?
I love Alecia's dedication but I don't think the choice of time of day is appropriate.
