I am still away, but I have some interesting posts scheduled until I return, so please keep visiting!
This is the headquarters of The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, a 146 year old company headquartered in Hartford. When I posted an earlier picture of the building, I got some quizzical comments. Despite its old fashioned name, HSB is a highly profitable, financially strong, technically oriented, modern company. It used to be owned by AIG but now is owned by Munich Re.
HSB's competitive advantage is a corps of 1200 engineers, inspectors and other technical people around the globe. If you had an industrial facility or a large commercial facility, you would want access to specialists who can help you mitigate the risks inherent in your boilers and other heavy machinery. You would also want to have your sophisticated equipment insured by people who understand the equipment, how it has been inspected and maintained, and who will be there financially if you have a problem.
A dizzying angle! Glad the company is so successful; we need more of these.
Great perspective. Interesting business model for an insurance company.
Darryl and Ruth :)
I like the angle you took for the shot. Very nice shot.
It is a massive building. Great composition here Jack.
An interesting line of work and an interesting angle on your shot.
I love the composition of this photo!
I think you showed us their logo previously, which was the first time I had heard of them. We don't have many big industrial, smoke stack industries where I live in Arizona, so I guess that explains why I haven't come across them.
If they are expert in insuring heavy manufacturing, I hope they continue to have a market in the USA. For some reason, I think that there is not much of a market for insurance in China.
Oh, I love your composition, too, Jack! Hope you're enjoying a great weekend!
How far back did you have to tilt your head to get that good angle? Good shot!
We all like your perspective here!
Well-spoken Mr. Jack. And interesting.
Great pespective! This building makes me think of one very near the railroad station in Nancy! Will post a shot soon;o)
À bientôt, Jack****
Interesting up shot... those make me a bit wobbly so I find a lamppost or lean against my car... did you?
When you put it like that Jack it makes complete sense! Like the angle you've taken on this one, disappearing up into the sky.
