Here you see the Goodspeed Opera House and the Gelston House from across the Connecticut River. Isn't this is a postcard-worthy scene? Photos of these two buildings from this vantage point are used often by Connecticut tourism agencies.
On the first day of each month, City Daily Photo bloggers have a "Theme Day." For August, the theme is "postcard-worthy."

Now I see why you saved this for today! Wonderful buildings, a great view for a very nice postcard!
Tourism agencies should engage you; you do a lot for Hartford's fame through your blog! this "postcard" proves it!
This one is indeed postcard worthy, showcasing this beautiful scene. The patriotic bunting is perfect against the backdrop of the opera house.

I've enjoyed your previous photos of these two buildings, but seeing both of them together from the river makes a spectacular "postcard." I love the pristine white of the buildings against the green trees.
most definitely postcard worthy! nicely done.
Looks like a postcard! I guess that was the point. The Connecticut tourism agencies should hire you, Jack!
Such handsome - and from this distance, pristine. How nice they are situated on the river!
This postcard? Ready to mailed out!
Great shot Jack! Looks really nice. Very beautiful buildings. Ready to mail.
I really like the buildings surrounded by the trees and the water.
They are beautiful! I work at FSU and one of the new visiting faculty this fall in our School of Theatre is coming from the Goodspeed Opera House.
One would never know these buildings were on the river from your first photos. You're very sneaky!
But, 'tis a beautiful sight, for sure. Maybe a Ct. tourism agency would buy this from you? Then you could buy a Harley and roar down through Ocala!
Most definitely postcard worthy Jack, I'd buy it for sure. The Opera House and Gelston House look so pristine white against that lush forest backdrop. Excellent shot.
Definitely postcard worthy. :)
oh yes, postcard worthy for sure!
I can see why this view would be used for travel books and post cards. It is gorgeous! A perfect choice for today.
Well this view of the opera house is just grand. The cuty should make a postcard for sure.

When I saw your earlier photo of the Opera House I had assumed it was in a urban setting and did not appreciate that it was situated in such a picture-postcard-perfect location.
From the previous photos I had no idea the buildings were this close to the water. Fantastic, what a great view, Jack!
Beautiful place Jack!
Now that is a postcard!
Gosh, I've received so many wonderful postcards today! After your two last posts, this is just the bonus!
What a wonderful setting those 2 buildings have! A beautiful postcard for sure.
Beautiful Connecticut.
Postcards, but for me also like a famous location for an American film!
Definitely postcard-worthy. Like grand dames in white awaiting a beau to call, nested in a cushins of green.
I'm here dreaming of your place, enjoying this and the previous posts, wonderful facades and charming buildings.
This picture is beautiful, perfect postcard!
*** Thanks for your always gentle comments, you are very kind!

A very lovely postcard view. I should have thought the postcard companies would beat a path to your door for your gorgeous photos.
I like the forest. So green and good for my eyes.
