Nice shot of the receding line of cans and trees on this shade-filtered street... Watching the truck move down the street and picking them up one by one with its "hand" is pretty entertaining.
This is far more organized than hereabouts! We have one trash barrel on one day for garbage, but then on another day we have recycle day. On that day we separate items but the curbs are lined with much smaller basket-like containers. I think I like this system better...both services on the same day. But then, who separates the recycling? In addition, we pay private haulers for garbage and trash, but the city (paid by our taxes, of course) collects the recycling items. We even have a service where we can advertise on line for items we want to giveaway free to any takers. I bet this is more than you want to know!!

Not fair, though. You get a great big thingy for recycling...we just get a little box. Actually I had to get a 2nd box and they're both overflowing before pickup day!

I admire communities that recycle. I'm very proud that East Gwillimbury does, in fact all of the towns in my region and even Toronto. But I feel so sad that many places in the U.S. and Canada still do not. What ARE they thinking???
We have different containers for recycling: green for glass, blue for paper, yellow for plastic and cans. There also are public red containers for batteries and another one for used food oil but, honestly, I don't remember the colour now.

I always do my best not to have dustbins in my pictures.. But maybe I should not! When they are making pretty ranks, they 're becoming interesting!

Question- Not these but often they lock trash receptacles. My question? Why?
Aha. I wish we would recycle more and I wish we were told what exactly gets recycled and what it becomes...
Here they may look tidy before pick-up but are scattered all over the place afterwards!

My goodness that trash looks neat and tidy, not like the way they sling stuff out here.
