Rose Weekend is Friday through Sunday in Elizabeth Park. Unfortunately, it rained on Friday, so I didn't get new pictures with the crowds who visit on nice days. I went back this morning before the crowds arrived. The rain knocked off a lot of petals, but new blooms will replace them by tomorrow.
The blooms on the arches are opening now, so tomorrow the arches should be completely covered in masses of pink roses.
There will be a rose show in the Pond House, musical performances, tours and other festivities. Elizabeth Park's rose garden is one of the oldest municipal rose gardens in the country.
NOTE: I have blown up the original image of the first photograph, and I think the animal on the crossbar is a chipmunk. I was too focused on other things to notice!

These are stunning, Jack, particularly the first and last. Enjoy the park and those roses.
Hartford sure knows how to put on a show with Elizabeth Park, the arbor and arches create such a beautiful place for roses.
Absolutely beautiful! I love how you framed that first shot.

Happy weekend for you all!

Looks like a beautiful place to wander.
These are gorgeous shots! Such lush scenery. Is that a squirrel or a mouse you captured in that top photo on the beam across the top?
Absolutely gorgeous place, breathtaking flowers and colors and what superb captures! I particularly love your composition in the first one! Fantastic, Jack!

I love the portal of the first photo but that last one shows the amazing colors and abundance of roses! If I ever get back to Hartford I would love to see Elizabeth Park... it seems to have something for every season

Oh my, this is like a dream. A beautiful one, I don't want to wake up.
Your first picture is fabulous! The kind of view I love, so romantic.. If ever you meet a gardener, please tell him a big Thank you for those marvels!
What a lovely garden! Like Sharon, i wonder what that creature is - chipmunk? (or small rat?)
That settles it! Elizabeth Park is on my MUST see list. Your photos are fantastic as always. That first one, wow I love the way it just draws me in.
That top pic is just beautiful, what a great composition, Jack! I also noticed the little creature, have you? :-) The gazebo covered in green is fabulous!
Wow. These are beautiful captures. What amazing gardening:)
I like the 1st shot...is that a mouse strolling over the way?
The bottom blooming roses photo is extraordinaire!
Tres bien fait, Jacques!
I had to leave you a long explanation back on my blog about the evolution of the picture of the old farmhouse. Mostly it has to do with my not having any control over what was there so I had to use Photoshop to take the stuff out.
I like this series of photos and it looks like a lot of roses. A fabulous place to visit I would assume with lots of fragrance.
What a lovely place. That last shot has some excellent color.
Your pictures give new meaning to the phrase, "The bloom is on the roses."
Very nicely done, Jack! You win one omelette at Bob Evans!
Che bella!
Just beautiful Jack I agree with everything that's been said and add..fantabulous. So this is not your garden Jack hahaha!
Your photo makes me think that a trip to the Rose Garden in Minneapolis should be on my calendar. Both the top and the bottom photos are stunning. Love the way you framed the view in the top one.
I love all these pictures and obviously the place.
