Connecticut built a $567 million bus rapid transit system between Hartford and New Britain,

over abandoned rail rights of way, a distance of 9.4 miles.  Sleek new buses travel the route.

 The annual cost is $17 million, 75 percent more than the original estimated operating cost.  The buses are nearly always empty or carry one or two passengers.
There are reasons Connecticut is almost broke . . . 

Real Art Ways

Four long monochrome photographs by Andrew Buck were exhibited in a gallery at Real Art Ways.

They showed a quarry.  I thought they were mundane, even though they were huge.

The three people in the center studied the main photograph for quite a while.

If they could find something interesting, they must be smarter than I am.

A second gallery exhibited Sideways into the Shadows, a series of portraits sketched by John Kelly.

These portraits are Kelly's way of remembering and honoring friends and creative

influences affected by the AIDS epidemic.

Another Interesting House

This odd house is set back from Route 6, somewhere in northwestern Rhode Island.
The colors call to mind the American flag, but where are the stars?

Just a House

I stopped at a traffic light that doesn't usually stop me.  Looking to the left, I saw this interesting house that I had never noticed before.  Fascinating what we see when we look around.

St. Stephen's

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church of Ridgefield, Connecticut, stands on a prominent site on 

Ridgefield's Main Street.  The church has been on the same plot of land since 1725.  

The current sanctuary is the fourth and it is already more than 100 years old.
