Robin Renee Hix

 Robin's current series is of old swimsuits and other beach and pool paraphernalia.  She hand paints photographs to create a nostalgic feeling.  This series was stimulated by an old family photo she came across, with the whole family in swimsuits. 

Hands On Fire

Jonathan Rose is the son of a metal worker, an apple that didn't fall far from that tree. 

 He recycles old propane tanks into steel tongue drums that are both decorative and musical.

LJ Eidolon

 

Charleston-based artist LJ Eidolon creates exquisitely detailed works she describes as "modern surrealism." She spent 20 years as a painter and collage artist and now often creates in a digital format.

Sandra Rodriguez

Sandra Rodriguez and Emmanuel Diaz are a couple in life and in art.  They are Cuban-born artists who collaborate on their paintings. 

 

 In this series, they use letter stamps to put each color on the canvas. They mix each color on the palette, then put it on a rubber stamp and stamp it on the canvas, by hand and one by one until they create the illusion of the human figure.

Marilyn Endres

Marilyn Endres does exquisite wood turning, often enhanced by laying antique glass beads into complex mandela-like patterns.

Naples Art Institute's Outdoor Art Show

 

I have gone to this outdoor art show on Fifth Avenue South for years (with timeouts for Covid).  

The overall quality this year was excellent.  Photos of specific artists begin tomorrow.

Fort Myers Boat Show

 The 50th annual Fort Myers Boat Show ends today.  An odd feature this year is that all of the boats are on dry land.  FEMA has not yet cleared the Gulf or Caloosahatchee River for boating after Hurricane Ian.
