Alina Eydel

Alina Eydel's gallery features her large scale, intricate and colorful mixed media images.  Some, like the yellow mosaic self portrait below, incorporate meticulously laid swirls of glass beads.

The bottom work is a kaleidoscopic mosaic crafted from butterfly wings.  Alina gets the wings from 17 farms around the globe.  The electric blue wings come from Blue Morpho butterflies, 

found in Mexican, Central American and South American rain forests.  

These beautiful wings are taken from butterflies that have died naturally.

 In addition to creating unusual and beautiful art, Alina feels she is helping to preserve rain forests

 by helping provide a secondary income source that does not require trees to be harvested.

He Says He Plans

"I Plan 2."  Maybe.  But execution leaves something to be desired.

Kathleen

Kathleen describes herself as an Iowa farm girl who taught school for 130 years.  When she retired, Kathleen and her daughter decided to live somewhere they could wear flip flops year round.

So, they moved to Naples, got a franchise, and opened up a Spice and Tea Exchange store.

Walking past when the door is open, it is pretty hard to resist following the scents inside.

Jens

Jens and his wife Adelheidi own a small gelato shop in Naples.  It just relocated to Park Street from Fifth Avenue North.  They immigrated to the States from Heidelberg, Germany, seven years ago.

In Germany they were business consultants.  He likes this life better.

Noy and Don

Noy works in a skin care salon on Fifth Avenue South.

Noy came to the States from Israel six years ago.  She has been in Naples one year.

Her Yorkshire terrier Don is usually with her.  Don has his own Instagram account.

Halloween

Rock'n'Roll

This was hard!   I realize now that I take a lot of photos of people in the crowd dancing, but not as many of the bands.  Until yesterday, I thought I would have to recycle a photo from 2015.

But, yesterday was Halloween, and Naples closed Fifth Avenue South for a Halloween celebration.
