When is a Big House a Mansion?

So, as I told you yesterday, I went looking for a couple of Naples mansions to show you.

But, when does a big house become a mansion?

For example, this is a lovely big house.  Is it a mansion?

How about this one?  It is even bigger.

This one is big, but it seems too friendly to be a mansion, don't you think?

This one is big, too.  But, to be a mansion, does it have to be
more imposing than this one?  And can mansions have a pelican in front?

I think I need to keep looking.

Blue

Back to Naples.

I was driving along Gordon Drive, one of Naples' most exclusive streets,

in search of a mansion or two visible from the street.  I thought you might like to see one.

But, the wonderful periwinkle blue of this house caught the corner of my eye, so I stopped and
walked back with my camera.  Not a mansion, but very nice.

I could live here.  If I had a gardener.

Yesterday was the UConn women's turn.

The Connecticut women's basketball team went into last night's
national championship game ranked #1 in the country with a record of 39-0. 

  Notre Dame was #2, also undefeated at 37-0.

UConn 79, Notre Dame 58.  National champions second year in a row.
Second time in ten years that BOTH Connecticut men's and women's teams are national champions.

Sophomore Breanna Stewart was the game's most outstanding player
and the national player of the year.

We Are the Champions!

Connecticut 60, Kentucky 54

National Champions.  Fourth time in 15 years.

And, now, the UConn women play for THEIR national championship tonight!

Go Huskies.

50 Mile Bicycle Race

Yesterday morning three large packs of riders departed Naples Cyclery and the adjacent 

Fit & Fuel Bicycle Cafe on Vanderbilt Beach Road in Naples.

Those choosing the longest ride rode the 50 miles 

to Fort Myers Beach and back.

Here they come!

All proceeds from the event benefit Youth Haven, serving at risk children.

Tonight the Connecticut men's basketball team plays in the national championship game. 
Tomorrow the UConn women play in their championship game.

Sunset at Naples Pier

There weren't many clouds, so the sunset was not as dramatic as some evenings.

But, I was there and I had my camera, so we take what we can get.

The Englishman

The Englishman is a lovely Naples store offering fine European 

contemporary and antique art and furnishings.
