Bees and Butterflies

A pair of silver-spotted skippers flitted around monarda (bee balm).

Joe-Pye weed attracts many bees.

A bee on a rose of Sharon bloom is doused in pollen.

A hummingbird moth (also known as a snowberry clearwing) moves quickly and unpredictably.

I was lucky to catch it still for a moment.

That is an amazing amount of pollen on that bee!

Bees are so beneficial for all of us. Without them we would lack fruits, nuts, flowers, and some vegetables.

I noticed that you do not have any honey bees in the photos. I have noticed that they are not around West Hartford anymore. Too bad.
