Swamp Buggy Races

How can I say I live in southwest Florida without going to the Swamp Buggy Races at
Florida Sports Park at least once?  The Fall Classic was on Sunday.

This is the 71st season.  There is a variety of swamp buggies, from modified Jeeps
to big, professionally modified specialty vehicles.

They race several laps around a track filled with a foot or two of water.  The Winter Classic is in January and the Spring Classic in March or April.

One tradition I missed is that the day's winner picks up the Swamp Buggy Queen and
jumps with her into the water.  Guess I will have to return another time to see that.

Oh great...another watery place for gators to hang out! Yes, go back and see the winner and queen standing in a foot of water! I bet they get all wet too! Thanks for sharing about a really weird sport.

Not something I have attended, but I would love to be the Swamp Buggy Queen, for real.

Now that is something I've never seen before. I learn something new every day!

Interesting speciality machines. Looks like a fun event just so you could be a long way from the action.
