St. Cyril and St. Methodius Parish

This church on Charter Oak Avenue in Hartford was established in 1902 for Polish immigrants.
It is across the street from the 1930 Art Deco Polish National Home.

Two fine buildings. In Cambridge the Catholic church has separate services for Polish, Italian and English-speaking (mostly Irish) worshippers. After the services some of the men would end up in The Oak pub which used to stand opposite - some very noisy and excitable company for any unsuspecting soul going in for a quiet drink!

Solid looking places, both of them. I have a soft spot for art deco buildings, though they are a bit clunky sometimes.

Wow, I cant' get over how much that church looks like my family's old church back in Quincy. It was built by German immigrants. I love that art deco building.
