Madness in Newtown, Connecticut
At least 27 people, including 18 young children, were killed this morning by a crazy person in Newtown, Connecticut, 50 miles west of Hartford. It doesn't seem like a day to be showing light photographs of Christmas decorations, so I am replacing the original post with this one.

It is so sad Jack.
My heart just breaks for those families. Hugging my kids a little tigher today.
Oh, Jack! This is so heartbreaking and sad at any time of the year, but particularly during a holiday so based on love and kindness and peace! How I will treasure the time I have with my family this Christmas and my heart goes out to those who have lost so much.
I am so sorry. I saw the news on TV this evening and I wept for all those lost, for their families and the other traumatised children at that school. Senseless tragedy.
I appreciate the respect you are showing here. This sad news is all over the news here. Heartbreaking.
Thankfully, I don't have TV. Beautiful post for today.
this is a perfect replacement (I also quickly replaced my Christmas lights with something innocuous)
Thank you, Jack.
It took everything I had not to rush to my daughter's elementary school and scoop her into my arms. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain those families are in tonight.
I have been sick about this all day long. I still can't believe it.
In the CNN news today, was and still difficult to comprehend; my prayers to all !
My heart is with the victims and their families. I sincerely hope that yesterday´s should be the last time something so terrible happens, something that unfortunately is repeated too often in your country.
When I heard that on news, I felt terribly sad. My thoughts go the the parents. This violence is horrible.
We need to rise up and ask for two things:
1) Gun control laws with legislation effectiveness, and
2) Restoration of funds to help and control the growing mental issues in our violent nation.
Heartbreaking.
Madness.
Stories of such selflessness from the teachers.
Our newspapers and TV news have had reporters covering what happened.....
What an evil act it was!!
