When I was getting ready to take photos of this sculpture at the Wadsworth Atheneum, a welder working on the roof started walking up the stairs. He turned back and said, "That is my favorite statue, too." I couldn't let his enthusiasm pass without putting him in the picture. He looks happier than they do.

That statue on the right sure looks a bit unhappy. Welding on the roof sounds like more fun. Hopefully we will see photos of that tomorrow!
They look like some of my 8th grade students when I told them I was giving them a test! The guy in the background, at first, I thought was a bicyclist! Then my eyes focused and I saw I was wrong (for the first time in my life! Well, maybe the second)!
I like the way you used selective focus. Better with a living smile than grumpiness set in stone :-)
PS Enjoyed the top element in your sidebar!
Love it Jack! Great capture.
This is such a fun image!!! Love it!
It looks like the statues are very disapproving of whoever is standing to your left.
I absolutely Love this picture! Funny, great!the angry sculptures offer a fabulous contrast with the smiling guy!
PS/ Would you accept that I copy your button about "word verification free blog"?I like this idea!
I love that cheery face between the two rather solemn ones Jack, good idea! I am really in favour of the 'no verification word' campaign!!
He certainly does look happier. Maybe that's because he can get up a walk away.
Makes me laugh, even without your explanation. We all love art, and I love a good chuckle too.
You got a great picture this way!
He makes the shot special for sure Jack!
They do look very unhappy and his happiness makes the photo so brilliant!
He certainly does look happier. Love this shot... you got him at just the right moment. :)
It's a great composition Jack - happy man and two angry statues:)
There may be a cheerful statue in the world but I can't recall having seen it - now there's a challemge for you!
Jack, I don't know how you always get folks in your shots, it is fabulous I like those statues and the welder does add much to the shot.
What a fabulous shot! I just LOVE it!
I love this shot...great work, Jack.
A wonderful moment in time Jack .... What a happy worker ..... I love those statues.
SUPERB my friend. What a great shot and the focus is great as well.

Now that's clever. And only one of the three is having a good day.
Perfect timing!
Makes a lovley trio
I guess only one of them wanted their photo taken.
Perfect image with the selective focus, superbe.
Fun!
So very cool, Jack, your photo and your inclusion of the statues' fan is superb!
As for your comment today, I believe your desire has been fulfilled. You shoulda heard my laughter'
That's outstanding! A handsome smiling welder is good for every body('s shot). And you managed to get the right focus. Usually I blow a photo op like that.
Well done, Jack! What a very cool composition this is.
This is a great portrait! So much contrast, tells a great story!
He is a nice guy, so cool composition in your picture! :)

What a great photo. The selective focus is brilliant for it - as Tash says, I salute your quick-thinking. I'd no doubt either not have thought to do that or made a mess of it!
