Theme Day: Favorite Part of Town

My favorite part of town?  It has to be Elizabeth Park, shown here last summer.  Elizabeth Park straddles the City of Hartford and the Town of West Hartford.  Walking to, around and from Elizabeth Park is one of my simple pleasures, at any time of year.  (It was even more fun when my old dog was still here to lead the walks.)

I have shown the gardens in the summer, the fall and the winter.  I started this blog in July 2010, so I have not yet shown Elizabeth Park in the spring.  Stay tuned.

The first day of the month is theme day for City Daily Photo participants.  The theme for March is Your Favorite Part of Town.  Click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

I can see why it's your favorite part of town. It's lovely -- so colorful and well manicured. I know what you mean about walks being more fun when led by one's best furry friend. Our walks usually would turn into adventures. I hope management is aware of your personal day and you don't plan on calling in sick. Have fun!

We will look forward to spring. My mother-in-law will tear up when she reads of your missing your dog. She is that devoted to dogs.

I've saved the link to the Gardens. Definitely on our list to visit next time we head into CT. Looks like a beautiful place.

What a beautiful place for a long walk. I'd have a wonderful time with a camera and all those flowers. But, I can see there is wonderful beauty here at all times of year.

Truly a pretty place any time of year! But who is/was Elizabeth?

Hope you're off to a good day!

Jacob and Lois Anne: Charles and Elizabeth Pond owned the large property that became Elizabeth Park. Mr. Pond donated the land to the City of Hartford after his wife's death and the park is named after her.

Amazing that all that snow melted overnight - hah! (jk) That garden is stunning, populated with plants and flowers that do so well with warm days and cool nights... Although your growing season is not as long as ours you make a gorgeous display! Looking forward to seeing many spring photos here.

I wonder how I missed you in July when you started. Strange that.

No wonder you love it, it's absolutely gorgeous in ALL seasons, I can't wait to see spring. Summer is fantastic but I just love that winter shot too (have you noticed I like winter?!)

That is beautiful! And it was so wonderful of him to donate such a place to the city. ( I miss my long rambling walks with my dog too! )

Is that house part of it? Or do they just have the good fortune to live next door? It looks lovely - I can see why you like it.

No wonder this is your favorite place in town, it would be mine too! It has some fine benches either.

Always great to see the same place in different seasons.

Thanks, Jack! I think, though, they should have named it Pond Park. Unless, of course, it already has a pond.

And I apologize for posting the little red lost cart. I just had no idea you were such a sensitive guy. Hope I didn't ruin your golf game!

Heh, heh!

I can see why you like this place. Those flowers are well tended. My brother was in your fair city recently after the big snow and ice storm. He was sent from the South to work insurance claims and was amazed at the six-foot-high snowbanks. Not knowing how to walk on drive in winter conditions, he says it was just a miracle he survived! However, he did say that he would have been lost without a GPS.

I imagine this would be a favorite place of mine too. Looks like a pretty place to walk around and then sit down with a good book and zone for a bit. I'm looking forward to your spring shot!
