The Fountain

One of Ridgefield's symbols, the fountain at the intersection of Routes 33 and 35 ,is protected from cold weather and dressed for the holidays.  The Fountain Inn peeks at it from across the street.

The fountain has been damaged numerous times in automobile accidents.  There is a plan to give it extensive repairs and restoration, perhaps this summer.

Tree Lighting and Santa's Arrival

All of Ridgefield seems to gather in front of Town Hall for the annual tree lighting and arrival of Santa.

The littlest ones often end up on dad's shoulders.

High school groups sing Christmas carols while the crowd waits.

At 6:30 the mayor flips a switch and the trees light up.

Before long a fire engine brings Santa and Mrs. Claus, who greet the cheering crowd.

Cold, but worth it.

Bad Luck

Main Street was empty on Black Friday, usually a busy shopping day.

That is tough for the small businesses that line Main Street.

A pipe burst at the south end of the business district and crews spent the day digging up the street and splicing in a replacement.

And wonderful in every way these days.  Love you, Susie.  Happy birthday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It seems that many stores and homeowners skip right from Halloween decorations to Christmas, skipping over Thanksgiving.  I found these flowers at a grocery store.  Close enough.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
