Eagles and Eaglets

I went to North Fort Myers to see if the eaglets that hatched around Christmas

 had fledged (left the nest) year.

The eagle nest is in the tree over the middle horse.  I used a 300 mm zoom lens 

to photograph them, and then I did some cropping.

Two adults and two eaglets are at the nest seen by viewers worldwide in the SWFL Eagle Cam..

One of the eaglets "flappercised" in preparation for its departure from the nest in the coming days.

Adult.

The eaglets moved around and flapped, but the fledging didn't happen while I was there.

Two Ducks

I like the exotics as much as anyone, but today let's appreciate the common duck.

We can't all be peacocks.  Heaven knows, I'm not.

Naples National Art Fair

The show filled Eighth Street South and adjoining Cambier Park.

Victoria Hamachek paints nearly photographic images of animals.

Kimberly Willcox sculpts with wood, clay and metals.  A visitor to her booth was captivated.

Andrew Anderson-Bell is from Ipswich, Massachusetts, not far from where I grew up.

I really liked his pastel plein air paintings of familiar scenes like marshes and seascapes.

What do artists do when there are no visitors to their booth?

This artist seemed to get romantic with his dog.

An artist who made wooden wind instruments amused herself by playing one. 

By far the most common way for artists without visitors to pass the time is looking at cell phones.

Tall Juliana

Harmon-Meeks Gallery on Twelfth Avenue South in Naples is a prominent contemporary art gallery.

It exhibits works only by artists with works in museum collections.  When I bent over to avoid hitting my head as I entered the gallery, Juliana Meek's face lit up and she came over to give me material on a new Tall Friends Of Southwest Florida group of which she is a founder.  

Juliana is the second generation of the Meek family to own and run the gallery.  And she is 5'11".

The painting is Crystal Cave by Hunt Slonem, a work in oil and acrylic with diamond dust on canvas.

If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it.

Barbatella

Barbatella is a restaurant on 3rd Street South in Naples, with an arresting green wall and ceiling.
