A new sign in front of the Hartford Public Library now also declares it the UConn Library. That is fitting since the University of Connecticut opened a Hartford campus just a few blocks away last year.
The entrance also sports a big banner declaring its openness ("We Belong Here"),
an abstract black metal sculpture that looks like an angel, and a statue of local
cultural icon, Samuel Clemens, a/k/a Mark Twain.

It is a visually busy place, Jack!
I wonder what other writers Hartford might have acclaimed if they hadn't become stuck on Clemens.
Fitting to have Sam out in front.
