Historic South Main Street

South Main Street in South Windsor runs along the Connecticut River, but high enough that it is not affected by seasonal overflow of the floodplain.  There is a mix of lovely old houses, farm land, modest modern houses and falling down relics.  I photograph only the nice houses.
OK, sometimes the wrecks, too, but not today.

They certainly built some elegant homes in those days. Number 3 has a very Dutch look to it.

These fine, old houses have great porches and sun rooms. A perfect place to sit when the weather is warm and pleasant. These houses are also quite large.

Beautiful houses. They remind my so much of my home town in Illinois.

I usually just show the nice ones too. There is enough ugliness and craziness in the world so it is good to try to forget it for a bit!

A bit like those gingerbread houses came to life.

It's hard to imagine wrecks mixed into a neighborhood like this. I love the look of these New England style homes.
