Out of the Jurisdiction: Bryanston Organic & Natural Market

Everything sold at the Bryanston Organic & Natural Market is organic or hand-made.
It is a stop on the visit every time I come to Johannesburg.

Colin Mead is a wildlife photographer who has had a stall at the market for over 30 years,
selling his wildlife photographs and coffee table books.

This vendor played the harmonica when business at his booth was slow.

This vendor sells beautiful cloth animals and wooden toys.
Too early for Willa.  We will be back next year.

Off today to Botswana for eight wifi-free days looking at animals and birds, then two days at Victoria Falls.  Tomorrow Willa will make another appearance, then posts from Naples.  Photos from the safari and Vic Falls -- and more from Joburg -- will be here when I get back to wifi.

Eight wifi free days are the only vacation people need these days it seems :) Have a safe trip.

Love South Africa, and I found that the black women are extraordinary and very strong. So many of them suffered during Apartheid but came out with inner strength that I envied. I spent more time in the townships, very little time in Jo'berg and loved Durban and Cape Town. I met Albie Sachs when he lectured at a law school here and he honored me by coming to my school where I was teaching at the time in St Paul to address a whole-school assembly. He wowed the kids and adults. Had lunch with A. Sachs in Cape Town during one of my visit. Your three photos make me very nostalgic!

Always great portraits!

Botswana (and Cambodia!) is on top of my places to go list. I dream of the Okavango Delta for a long time. Enjoy!

Have a great time in Botswana. Our university's Ag College had a long standing project working with Botswana, so there was much exchange. I wasn't involved in that project, but got to see many slide shows and hear how the project was going. Know you will enjoy this trip.
