We do not have piers like this and I would really like one!
Piers of all sizes, shapes, and materials are important to seaside villages and towns. This obviously is an integral part of the city. Your fishing gear?!
The water looks a trifle choppy, and the boats in the background confirm this. The perspective you have used is spot-on, Jack.
Nice to see such an old pier as those in the UK are a threatened species at the moment - everybody wants to keep them but nobody seems to want to provide the money required.

Cast out far enough you could catch one of those sailboats, or perhaps a cute swimmer. I can just feel the warmth in this photo.
