Verne

When I ask a West Hartford woman wearing a sling, "How did you get that?"
I don't expect the answer to be, "I slipped on a step on a Paris subway."

Verne is a vivacious grandmother with seven grandchildren, most in their teens.
She takes one or two on a big trip every year.  This year Verne took her 15- and
12-year old grandchildren to visit Paris and London.
The separated shoulder didn't slow her down.

  1. Despite her injury, she looks happy to have her photo taken. Wish I could talk to her since I intend to take my grand-daughter to Paris next summer. Wonder what 13-year-old girls like to see and do in Paris?

  2. What a great granny to take her grandchildren on special trips. A 15- and 12-year old? At the same time? What a super nice lady.

  4. I think about that every time I walk down the Paris Metro stairs!!! Bless her heart. Still smiling though.

  6. She looks like a happy lady to me -- in spite of the separated shoulder!! And a brave one to take grandchildren to Paris and London!! Another great "people" shot, Jack, as always! Enjoy your weekend and stay out of trouble!!

  7. In Connecticut even the injuries are glamorous.

  8. A woman after my heart! I slipped and fell on some steps in London on the second day I was there. It didn't slow me down either. Well, technically, I did go down and up stairs slower than I had been but that's all.

  9. That kind of stuff is no fun away from home. Sounds like she's a good sport.

  11. Ooh, not the best thing to do on holiday, glad she is still smiling. A lady on my Croatia trip broke her wrist (falling off the edge of the pavement/sidewalk - having successfully negotiated lots of slippery and uneven Roman steps!)
