Yesterday I showed two photos of my street. That was pretty revealing for a guy who is so protective of anonymity on this blog that he only shows his first name and the top of his head.
Today I lift more of the curtain. Kind of.
Over the past decade, I have spent a lot of time away from Hartford. Weeds and invasive vines took advantage of the neglect to hijack the shrub border on one side of my property. So, this fall I hired a landscaper to rip it all out, plant a neat hedge of hydrangeas, and then repair the rest with sod and mulch. I think it looks great. Next steps: a Japanese maple tree and a picket fence.
If this works out as planned, you might see the blooming hedge next August.
ooh are we near your house then
ReplyDeleteThe photo gives me no indication of your location:-) It should be great next year when the hydrangeas bloom.
ReplyDeleteWhat surprises me most is the lack of a white, picket fence. I didn't think you could build on your street without one! Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the shrubbery. And don't forget to hedge your bets!
It certainly looks neat. I like hydrangeas so I look forward to seeing the blooming hedge!
ReplyDeleteAll will be perfect at blooming time, dear Elusive M. Jack! :o)
ReplyDeleteYour local fan base in Hartford might be walking around in search of that hedge. And they might then take a photo, of your house.
ReplyDeleteYou have revealed a lot. A photo of the of your head and the fact that you are 6'5". If not for your photo, few people would see the top of your head.
Oh yes a Japanese Maple would look fantastic with the hydrangea hedge Jack, look forward to seeing it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your next steps...
ReplyDeleteI love hydrangeas and can't wait to see pics of yours come spring!! And a Japanese Maple!! Perfect!! Have a great week, Jack!
ReplyDeleteWhen those hydrangeas are blooming, that will be spectacular. Sounds like a very nice project.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Jack.
ReplyDeleteMy Limelight Hydrangeas are scattered about the property, not a hedge... but they do delight us! Yours will too!
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas sound like a perfect choice. And a picket fence! Wow! Looking forward to the pics next year.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! :)
ReplyDeleteYou might as well use my paperbag... revelations???
ReplyDeleteI can see it now!
ReplyDeleteLovely. I do hope to see the blooming hedge. Japanese Maples are a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Dave in Costa Rica has to worry. The locals already know the street, and if there's one thing we're good at - perhaps to a fault, is respecting your neighbor's privacy. Though I keep an eye out for Jack whilst walking the dogs in the park.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your hydrangea hedge. We have several in front of our house and they are the best plants our there.
ReplyDeleteReally nice, Jack.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be gorgeous! Oh and now I know exactly where you live! :-)
ReplyDeleteI really hope it does work out! I love hydrangeas, but I've never had much luck with them myself. I'll just enjoy yours instead. :)
ReplyDeleteGood on you for saving your back and hiring someone else to do the hard work. It will be lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou're out of control, Jack, dispensing information about yourself! Pace yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing the picket fence.
