Hartford Runs!

Yesterday 16,000 runners filled the streets in the ING Hartford Marathon, a half marathon, a 5K and kids' races.  These runners are streaming across the starting line in front of the Capitol.

Some runners break out in smiles as they finish.  Others grimace.

  1. That is a lot of runners. The people that grimace might smile next time they run.

  5. Looked at the results, appears that this marathon is walker friendly. Might have to add this one to my list - thanks!

  6. You must have finished early to get your camera and take these shots! Love the flowers lining the finish. I wonder how many of the exhausted runners actually noticed them.

  9. Like everyone else, I am amazed that someone thought to put potted flowers all along the approach to the finish line!

And Jack, I do love that beautiful crisp Fall weather you are having. I even go to visit snow at least once during the winter!

  11. I seldom see a smiling runner. Most have a kind of grimace on their face. This truly is remarkable.

  13. I think I've seen those same smile vs. grimace expressions when I've photographed races near the end. It looks so easy for some and so difficult for others.

  14. A LOT of runners indeed! I love the different expressions as they cross the finish line!! Such colorful and beautiful flowers to welcome them, too! Well, I'm tired now, think I'll go back to bed!! At my age I'm glad I was born skinny! With any luck I'll be skinny when I kick the bucket!! Have a great week, Jack!!

Funny, I rarely see runners smiling. I take that as a sign.
