Yellow Victorian House in New Hartford

There have been some beautiful Victorian houses on this blog in the last month or so.  This one is in New Hartford, the small town I showed in July.

I was going to describe the house as "Italianate," but I wanted to check the word in Google images, just to be sure that I was right about the architecture.  What house do you think was on the first page of images to illustrate "Italianate"

It was this one! You're so clever! But the house is absolutely gorgeous and I would love to live there - I think. Lois Anne not so much. She likes more modern things. I guess I'd better be careful, being an antique and all!

Well, I guess you know your Italianate architecture.

It shows the long history of Hartford that houses like this are in "New" Hartford. Sort of like the old (by our standards) New Rathaus or town hall in Munich.

I'd say you hit that style right on the head! How fun!

Yup, Italianate, the ad says so! And a very, very nice example at that.

No way Jack!! What are the chances! Well it's definitely official, that gorgeous house is 'Italianate' for sure.

Interesting that this was built around the same time that Saltaire was finished. Our Victorian Italianate is a lot heavier looking than this - but there are echoes in the shape of the windows and that little tower. It's a very pretty house.

I want to spend an afternoon in that tower!

Do not laugh at me, but I had to check what was the meaning of Italianate... Now that I know, it is even easier to appreciate this wonderful and elegant mansion.

You are quite the expert! It also appears that the house (mansion) is for sale... Charming pool and would love the ballroom. Do they have any secret passages?

Apparently this house is the epitome of Italianate!
I'm not really sure what that architectural style is, but I do like this house. :)

This looks to me like an architectural version of a wedding cake. Good call on the style!

Ha! Well, it certainly eased any doubts!

Gorgeous house. I love these houses... a few towns over in Hull Village there are a number of old Vics that were summer homes. They are getting fixed and painted and look simply divine. It's nice to see that sort of love.
