Gardeners Pew End

This is a Taylor/Dressel carving of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch from Hartford's Bushnell Park.

Good news yesterday about the derelict Capitol West office building I showed you last week.  A demolition contractor has been hired and demolition will begin in two weeks.  It is expected to take about four months to take it down.  The story is here.

    This pew's end is truly spectacular. I can envision how difficult it must be to concentrate during a service with this wealth of carvings to view.

    So many unique carvings, Jack. I really like the depth of field here which shows the great number and shapes of finials in the background.

    You said we were in for a treat, how very true. These pew ends are just stupendous.Is it an age-old tradition to have carved pew ends? I don't think I've ever seen this in France...

    Jack that is an intricate and detailed carving, (well all the ones we've seen) it is amazing they took the time to carve these beauties. What a vision they had.

    Such a unique idea to have all the pew ends different Jack, each with it's own story,
    Interesting developments with the Capitol West office building. $1.18 just to knock it down, I wonder why they didn't choose the 'imploding' method for such a big building. Much quicker I'd have thought. btw if they want to create a more 'welcoming environment' maybe they should change the name, I mean to say 'Asylum Hill' come on, haha!
