The Stanley-Whitman House is a house museum in Farmington village. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960.
The house is a classic New England saltbox form, and it has a classic stone wall along the street. This would have been the good life in the beginning of the eighteenth century.
It looks like a good life. Great photo, love old historic homes
ReplyDeleteHow interesting! I wonder what it looks like inside.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good life right now! What a beautiful structure.
ReplyDeleteI love a nice stone wall, whether it's in front of a house or a pasture.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy visiting these period homes; gives me some idea of a bygone era.
ReplyDeleteI think I could have survived here.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful...and as Farmchick said, it wouldn't be a bad life now (esp. if it had indoor plumbing!)...
ReplyDeleteRe your "incendiary" comment on Ocala DP: You like "faded" colors? I don't think so. I think you're kidding me! Maybe you should move to Boca Raton? Put a little fire in your life! :-)
I can tell from the chimney that there is a grand fireplace inside.
ReplyDeleteI love these old homes. I also like this shot. You framed it all very well. I'm getting the picture that Farmington is a very nice place.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so European.
ReplyDeleteVery cool composition, Jack!
ReplyDeleteNice angle on the building. I like how you've incorporated the sign.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! It looks so very well preserved.
ReplyDeleteI do love these old, old houses!
ReplyDeleteIt has an interesting shape with that overhang to the first floor. I wonder why they did that?
ReplyDeleteWonderful old house and glad that it is being maintained... heritage and history.
