Elizabeth Park: Decline of the Tulips

Here is the Annual Garden at Elizabeth Park, which I am going to be showing through the year.  The top one is from Wednesday and the small one is the scene I showed two weeks ago.   On Wednesday the tulips were mostly gone.
These flower plots will probably be given a little rest before the bulbs are pulled out and the Annual Garden is replanted.  I will be back.  Meanwhile, I will show other parts of the park.

Honestly. This is why I don't waste time, space and money on tulips. Not even a nectar less honeybee will pay a single tulip lip service.

I wonder how long tulips can last?

Yes, the end is not sweet... such a melancholy time to see the petals drop so soon.

"Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay."

So sad to see but, as Disney would say such is the circle of life.

I like the composition and while it would have been nice to catch the tulips in bloom, it is still beautiful.

Thanks for finding the info on Harold Connolly yesterday. I added it to my post with a link to the BITA site on Connolly.

This is so sad, but obviously nature is following its course and it makes a good before and after photo op!

Tulips don't last long I guess. Lois got some from our daughter for Mother's Day...they were beautiful while they lasted, which was only a few days...

This is a superb park!

Glorious tulips, despite their demise we can carry around the memory of their spectacular blooms. It is wonderful to have a space that is carefully tended to show off different blossoms.

Can't wait to see what else blooms in the garden!!!

That's the one nice thing about a cool spring - the flowers last longer. Looking forward to summer blooms.

Although the tulips are fading, they were beautiful in their peak... I am sure that there will be more flowers and displays to come!

So sad to see those beautiful flowers fading! But that's life and you just have to be patient and wait for them to come back next spring;o)
Thanks for sharing your beautiful pics, Jack;o)

Beauty fades so quickly in somethings. But at least in flowers it will return.

Oh my goodness! I have missed too much here. And this one is almost sad! What a lot of work....makes you wonder if the beauty is worth it?

I think so! (Just glad I don't have to do it all;))
