Religious Services

In the 1880s, there were 15 men in the new town of Punta Gorda, eight black and seven white.  Daniel Smith was very religious.  He conducted interracial services under an arbor he built.

    As a residing Floridian from time to time, I suspect you have read Cross Creek, by Marjorie Rawlins. If you haven't, you might enjoy it. Also, immediately follow it up with The Perfect Maid, Idella Parker.
