Hurricane Ian wrecked the Naples Pier six months ago.
The end is blocked off.
The City is seeking bids for design services to repair or replace it.
In normal times, Naples Pier juts 1,000 feet into the Gulf of Mexico. It was built in 1888 and rebuilt multiple times after a 1922 fire and three hurricanes before Ian.
This is how it looked in 2017 after the last rebuilding in 2016. I don't know if the City will replicate this version or go for something different.
I have sunset pics taken from here, Jack.
ReplyDeleteWhat the city decides to do depends on the size of their budget. Looks like simple repair would not be costly, but a redesign could be expensive.
ReplyDeleteA sad sight. And it will most likely keep on happening.
ReplyDeleteThat is sad.
