In 2015, 2014 and 2013 I showed the badly deteriorated Capewell Horse Nail Co, factory in the Charter Oak neighborhood of Hartford. Since then, a $27 million renovation has taken place
(with help from lots of public funding) and it is now a quite attractive loft-style apartment building.
The buildings in this area have always had "good bones," but the area had become rundown.
On a recent visit, signs of renovation were prevalent. Room for optimism.

"An impressive accomplishment" as you said it would be in an earlier post. I can't help thinking though that if the renovation had been done some years ago it might have been done more cheaply.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite attractive.
ReplyDeleteIt's very well done!
ReplyDeleteYou have to know that this is my taste indeed, Jack! Wonderful to see that the great old building has been saved!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see these old industrial buildings renovated for a new purpose. This will lead to improvement in the whole neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of money. But I bet that the apartments looks great.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad those "good bones" were finally preserved. It's quite a transformation from its former look but $27 million can go a long way...
