Though it does not compare with the brutal cold, heavy snow and bitter winds up north,
it is atypically cool down here in Southwest Florida. Today is expected to be in the 30s
overnight before reaching the high 50s (maybe 60) during the day.
When most days in the winter are in the 70s and often reach into the 80s, there is little reason to head to the beach on days like this. Yesterday Barefoot Beach was nearly empty except for a brave
few people in heavy jackets walking along the beach and the occasional fisherman.
Rental boats stayed in their slips, too. No one wanted to be out on the water. But,
normal weather is expected to return by Monday.
-21 °C... 7 °F in Southern Ontario, Canada. Only going outside if I have to.

Beach photo captured it well. Best time to walk or run on the beach. Very few people.
ReplyDeleteMy parents had a house in Palm Beach and I found out Florida has about two weeks of cool winter weather every year before returning to warm sunshine again. Keep warm, Jack.
ReplyDeleteThat would feel balmy to us right now. I have several friends who headed to Fla for the holidays and they will not be pleased with those temps, Jack!
ReplyDeleteI just saw a report on CNN from Boston. You sure have a real Winter this time around. But I think you should try to take a selfie while trying the water here...
ReplyDeleteYour cold in Florida is quite different from our cold. It is -24 here at present.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if the cold had reached that far south!
ReplyDeleteNPR had an interesting piece today on poor frozen iguanas falling from trees in Florida. (Most of them weren't dead.) It may seem cold down there but it still looks beautiful from here (and I'm guessing that alligators may go into torpor, never a bad thing in my book).
ReplyDeleteYour Florida 'cold' made the news here too. For a moment I thought there was snow on the beach, but no - just beautiful white sand.
