On a wall in Blue Back Square, a sign gives homage to Noah Webster's dictionary, the "blue back speller" for which the east end of West Hartford Center is named. Webster is a West Hartford native.

ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to imagine a world without dictionaries. Robert Cawdrey who compiled "Robert Cawdrey's Table Alphabeticall" in 1604 may well be an ancestor of mine as he shared the same surname as my grandfather.
