premier restaurant and shopping street. He has bought up several older properties that
are only one story high. to replace with denser, higher and fancier development,

I have mixed feelings. I like the current mix, but change is inevitable.
Is it too fast? Is it the right change? Time will tell.

ReplyDeleteSeems that change is inevitable and imaginative minds are always at work. I think I'd prefer the mix, too. Too much modernity is always boring.

ReplyDeleteAny time someone attempts to establish a really great restaurant it can't be all bad. But high rise residential development is always problematic.

ReplyDeleteSomething similar happened where my parents live in Florida. It's okay, but I think it looked better the old way. Seems like you can't stop change.

ReplyDeleteYou're right Jack ... it's a wait & see situation. I've been quite outspoken about some of the changes in my city but have had to eat my words.
ReplyDeleteThese things can be nice if they're well done. Sometimes they can gentrify an area beyond the means of people who work there (and might otherwise live there as well). And then there's inevitable traffic and congestion. Yes, time will tell.
