Thousands and thousands of sea stars were thrown onto the beach in a recent storm.
They couldn't get off the beach, so their bodies are everywhere.
They couldn't get off the beach, so their bodies are everywhere.
Sue led a dozen women at a 5 o'clock sunset beach yoga class.
The sun set at 6 o'clock. A family stood at water's edge. The young father tossed his child up in the air repeatedly, but the grandmother took photographs with her iPhone and blocked my shot.
Preserving the family's memories are more important than my shot, don't you think?
So, I waited a bit longer and took a different photo.

poor little sea stars :(
Lovely shots and yes, so sad for the sea stars.
Sad about the sea stars, nature can be so cruel! Sublime spot to do yoga, can't get more in the mood for stretching than that :) You might not have caught the flying in the air child but you did get a super sunset silhouette, nice work Jack!
It's a pretty sunset. Pity about the sea stars.
Magnifique,la mer me manque et j adore la premiere photo, bravo ;o)
The sea stars are pretty, though it is sad.
OH, poor sea stars!! That is sad indeed!! Beautiful sunset and wonderful captures as always, Jack!! Have a great day!!
The poor stars.
I am amazed to learn about those sea stars. Love all your images. Yoga would be fun to try on the beach.
Are the sea stars a predator of coral like other star fish? Perhaps they will become part of the sand over time. The Yoga class looks like they are worshiping the setting sun. Good thing you set the record straight.
All three of these shots are appealing to me. The first shot seems so haphazard, yet artistic. Yoga on the beach sounds nice to me and so does some family time.
Sea stars: it's a scene of death but nonetheless beautiful. And they look like they were healthy and abundant. We've had a sea star wasting disease on the West Coast that badly impacted the population.
Beach yoga! What a great idea!
Lovely photos! Sorry about the storm casualties.
Pity about the sea stars but they make a lovely photo.
I'm a bit anti-social at the mo so I prefer the sea stars. Poor things...
Frustrating when you're prevented to take a photo by someone else standing in front of you, eh? However I do agree that these shots will be more precious to the grandma than they can ever be to you.
I love the idea of yoga on the beach at sunrise or sunset.
Too bad about the starfish :(
(does that happen often?)
