Yesterday I took a look at the photographs from France, as I prepared to make a photo album
for the trip. I didn't make the album (yet), but I saw some you might like.
I was on a bridge taking night shots of the Eiffel Tower and turned around.
Everyone who goes to Palais Royal has to shoot one of these.
He REALLY didn't want to have his picture taken.
This stunning Frenchwoman was studying the large format photographs of
tribal Africans who cut their faces in an ancient (but dying) tradition.
Maybe it is not possible to show the Eiffel Tower in a new way, but I tried.
It is said that Julia Child had a meal at this Rouen restaurant
and decided she wanted to learn how to cook.
This is a "fail." On a night boat ride past Notre Dame on the Seine, I couldn't find the settings to deal with the boat's movement and the darkness, but I thought the failure was kind of artistic.
You really had a lot of fun while you were there. Will you take your photos and make a book out of them for each country you visit? Would be a shame not to have a hard copy of your photos. One question: If you did not have a camera with you on your many fabulous trips, how would you spend your time?
ReplyDeleteWell this filled my bucket this morning! Gorgeous shots Jack, even the watery "failure" is lovely. The photo shoot one is amazing. Those are the things that you see in Paris that you don't see at home. Magique.

Kate, I have a shelf with 32 photo albums from Shutterfly so far. I make one (or two for big trips) after every significant trip and have done so since 2003. On these trips, I would go to the same places and do the same things if I didn't have my camera with me. At home in Florida and Connecticut, though, I do go out with my camera to places and events just to take photos for this blog.

ReplyDeleteJack, I have enjoyed your Paris photos. Love the story of the Rouen restaurant where Julia Child was inspired to learn to cook. I believe she ordered the filet of sole. She was always a favorite of mine, and I learned something about cooking from her.
ReplyDeleteNever seen a bean harvest? You are obviously not a Midwesterner. You know you are in the Midwest when you see corn fields to your left, and soybeans to your right. This bounty makes up most of what we eat either directly or indirectly through animal feeds. Most corn and beans are broken down into their component parts such as oils, starches, and other chemicals. It also makes up a percentage of the fuels we burn, e.g.,ethanol and bio-diesel. Most farmers these days drive machines worth much more than the latest Ferrari or Lamborghini to harvest these crops.
Glad you shared these, they're all wonderful and I'm not sure which I prefer.

ReplyDeleteI'd be proud to have an album like this. The top photo is so Parisian (although you might try cropping it shorter to get rid of the bright lights). If I had just taken the third picture I might be testing my running shoes. Four and five are blindingly brilliant. I've taken six, or something similar. Eight is not a failure. Just ask Monet's ghost.
