Brake The Cycle is a Manchester-based group of faith-based bicyclists who bike to Connecticut churches where they speak about poverty and justice. I ran into them in Hartford's Bushnell Park.
Tom is a leader of the group. He teaches theology, history and Asian Studies at Fairfield Prep.
Their dedication is admirable!
ReplyDeleteAn effective portrait. I am not sure we have faith-based bicyclists...
ReplyDeleteI love hearing about people doing good works especially when we hear so much about the people who do horrible things.
ReplyDeleteWe need to hear more about the good people in the world.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with the others -- great to read about people doing the good things instead of the bad that fill most papers these days! Hope you have a great new week, Jack!!
ReplyDeleteYou need to have faith to propel yourself on two narrow wheels through modern traffic.
ReplyDeleteThat's a new concept to me.
ReplyDeleteI don't have that much faith in my cycling prowess :) excellent portrait Jack.
ReplyDeleteAnother in a fine series of portraits, Jack. Sounds like an interesting group of cyclists.
ReplyDeleteYes, you should add SD to your bucket list. Most tourists spend time in the western part of the state in the Black Hills. They are like the Rocky Mountains, but much older and lower. Lots of places to visit and scenery everywhere. The Number 10 Saloon where WIld Bill Hickok was killed is still open for business. Bring your camera.
Nice portrait and post.
ReplyDeleteThis man is on the side of the angels.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a mission I haven't heard before though Bikers for Jesus still takes the cake. This one sounds like a more nuanced group, however, and rather more interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting group.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a really nice guy.
