We saw zebra, impalas and a rhino in a field all looking in the same direction.
That usually means one thing. A predator was near.
This lone battle-scarred male lion wandered into view. It was daytime and his potential meals
had all seen him. He lost the element of surprise.
So, the lion sauntered past our vehicle (within about five feet) and moved to another area,
hoping to catch some food unaware.
WOW!
ReplyDeleteCool!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I understand, seeing lions in these places is not a common sight. You were very lucky to locate and photograph this marvelous beast. When in South Africa, I saw all kinds of animals, but the lions were elusive. You must be having a GREAT time. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: You are having way too much fun this year, Jack!!
ReplyDeleteWow, fabulous shots, Jack !
ReplyDeleteHe seems to be an older lion...?
Amazing photography. I'm in awe!

ReplyDeleteIntimate lion photos. That lion was checking to see if your car window was down. Hope it wasn't.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed then I remembered the lens you were using and now I"m blown away. Excellent images Jack!
ReplyDeleteAmazing captures, Jack!! That lion does look a tad worn, but he does seem to be checking you out with hungry eyes!!! Awesome images indeed!!
ReplyDeleteHe will need to send one of his ladies out for a meal later - the females are better hunters, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteA magnificent animal. Great shots of him, Jack.
ReplyDeleteWow. What a beautiful creature.
ReplyDeleteHe look old in that third shot.
ReplyDeleteScary story in the news about woman who was killed by a lion while in her car with the windows down. Glad that you are still with us!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent creatures, well captured Jack.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. What a venerable old beast he looks. Quite touching in a way. I'm glad you didn't provide his dinner.
