The Little Bar

The Little Bar is a quaint restaurant in Goodland.  The founder scoured his native Chicago for interesting old buildings being demolished, and constructed the Little Bar with the remnants.
Some tables are made from bowling alleys and some walls are made from organ pipes.

The bar is more than 100 years old.  It came from a neighborhood joint in Cicero, Illinois.

The owner has a weakness for nutcrackers.

Nikki (on the right) is the granddaughter of the founder.  Karen is the hostess and cashier.
Old photos of Nikki's family line the walls of one of the rooms.

  1. Except for the large size, it reminds me of an Irish pub. . .photos and lots of do-dads.

  6. A great idea for a really nice place, I am glad he saved all this. I had an uncle who collected nutcrackers like these, but he had a few less...

  11. Looks rather like an English pub. I love places that have lots to look at, especially with a bit of history too.

  12. Love it! It looks like a great place to go. I wish there were more places like this where the owners create an atmosphere rich in history and culture instead of creating impersonal eateries.

  13. If that back bar came from Cicero, then it must have sold beer supplied by Al Capone who lived in Cicero to avoid the Chicago Police. Ah, if that bar could tell stories. We might learn something.

(Ok, ok. I grant you this one looks interesting, but it's a slippery slope, you know!)

  20. Hmm…don't think I've ever stopped in there. That old bar looks quite interesting (if one was inclined to belly up for a libation).
