So, I went downtown trying to take some night photos on an evening when
nothing much was happening.
This is a statue of Lafayette, in a traffic island on Washington Street.
Bushnell Hall is behind on the left and a State of Connecticut office building is on the right.
This scene reminds me, for some reason, of Rome.
ReplyDeleteMarie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, marquis de La Fayette.
ReplyDeleteSo why do Americans spell it Lafayette like the department store in Paris?
Everyone would laugh if we thought than one o would be enough in Roosevelt.
Sorry. I'm not in a bad mood, honest. And I really like this night shot!
M La Fayette has rather a grand backdrop Jack, nice and clear without people messing up your shot :)
ReplyDeleteReally great time of the day to shoot this one in. Love the dark blues skies.

ReplyDeleteLafayette has a wonderful commanding view from is plinth on that island.
ReplyDeleteI love your night shots. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely time of day that was, Jack!
ReplyDeleteGreat atmosphere in this shot, and an outstanding figure of history, too.
ReplyDeleteFine night photo. You have control of the light, a difficult thing to do.
ReplyDeleteWas the saying "Lafayette, we are here," associated with World War I or II? I can't remember that, among other things.
ReplyDeleteI love shooting at night!
ReplyDeleteNice work with this photo. Shooting at night is something I need some practice with, but it looks like you have it down!
ReplyDeleteTrying to find a place devoid of people is sometimes hard to do but this scene is delightful. The lights look like they are "haloed."
ReplyDeleteLove the color of the sky.
ReplyDeleteNice golden tones in this shot. And something in the contrasting light makes the Lafayette (La Fayette)statue seem as if it has a sense of movement.
ReplyDeleteI like the lighting.
ReplyDeleteLovely light. I like the golden tones with the blue in the background.
ReplyDeleteI like it. I would have had to declare, "Lafayette, we are here!"
