Are you sure the sculpture isn't new (as in only 10 or 15 years)?? It's kinda cute.
Re: Ghery and Wright bldgs. I lived for about 15 years in sight & walking distance of Wright's last public commission, the Marin County Civic Center. It does have chronic leaks. But the building itself is graceful, organic and comfortable. The interior works pretty well. The Ghery? Interesting exterior in its contrast with others but the museum interior is a hodgepodge and there is very little flow or connection if any between exhibits (which may be a vision problem with the museum itself). I like it, kinda, but agree that it may not be so beloved long term. The facia of blue shows a little mold and could use polishing.
There is a series called Brain Games on one of the cable science channels. One of its main points is how little we observe out of all that we see. Case in point.
Indeed it is :). Love this style of building. Can just imagine sitting in that screened porch enjoying a nice iced tea.
ReplyDeletei love the color of the house...i am laughing at you though for only now noticing about the tree sculpture!
ReplyDeleteVery Caribbean colour. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice it until I read your comments. It certainly blends in well with the other trees.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice it either until I read what you had written!! That's really cool! Colorful house, too!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great discovery. I'd likely walk by and not notice it. Thank you for your comment on my blog today. Nothing wrong with a bit of whimsey.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I would have noticed that either. Love the color of the building, I bet they have a nice collection.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, Jack!

ReplyDeleteI'm a guy that likes colour in my photos. I really like the colour of this building. It's very pleasing to the eyes.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty building Jack, perfect for a gallery. The palm tree is very realistic :) :)
ReplyDeleteFunny how we can miss something like a fake palm tree.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are now photo blogging because we all become more observant because of it.
ReplyDeleteWe would need some palm trees of that kind!
ReplyDeleteI visited Sanibel before it was so popular. I wish I had that cute cottage on the beach!
