We have roseate spoonbills in Costa Rica. The shape of their beaks and pink color are indeed distinctive.

The angle of your two photos gave me a good look at this chap's bill. New animal to me, interesting looking!

I miss these. We don't have 'em in Ocala. Beautiful shot.

Funny story about your barber and barber shop. Why do the best barbers die off?

Such unusual birds Jack, extraordinary bills... Haven't seen the Roseate Spoonbills here, just the white... Really super reflections.

Another handsome fellow! I'd love for this one to turn up in my neck of woods, but somehow feel that won't happen anytime soon (though you never know with climate change!)

I get the feeling you'd make a run-of-mill great blue heron look good anyway.

Such beautiful coloring on the feathers and the bill looks enormous.

Lovely colours on this fellow!

In regards to your comment on my blog, that veterinary college your dad went to is still there in Guelph. It was linked up with the agricultural college and another college into the University of Guelph. The program for vets is still running today.

I'm not sure I've ever seen one like this before. Fantastic.

Are you into pink at the moment?

These are especially nice shots with the pink reflections. Very cool bird. Too bad we don't find them up in our neck of the woods.

We only have the ordinary (but still extraordinary) white variety of Spoonbill in the UK, and those only occur rarely. So it's great to see this splendid specimen photographed so nicely. So now it's me that's jealous!
